About page
How to write a therapist about page—person, status and audience, not a clinical story
The about page is where a stranger learns who you are and which membership or registration you hold today. Therapist Website Studio composes it in plain English: your name, the title you may use, a linked register line in that body’s own words, who you work with, and how to start an enquiry—without upgrading status, pasting a supervision history, or borrowing a protected title.
Example bespoke sites
Linden Walk is a designed example in Edinburgh. Its about layout is fictional—not a client biography or copy you should paste.

Edinburgh · online across the UK
Counselling and psychotherapy, named apart.
Choose the work that fits. Each has its own page, its own fee, and the same short way to write.

Counselling
A weekly place to start
£70
50 minutes · Edinburgh room or online
A weekly session for something you want to work on now. For adults, in Edinburgh or online.
Psychotherapy
Longer work, with its own page
£85
50 minutes · the pattern underneath
For a pattern that keeps returning, when a single conversation is not enough. Its own page, and its own fee.

Which are you asking about?
The form asks for counselling or psychotherapy, so the reply matches the work. It does not ask you to explain a history.
Name, email, which route, and Edinburgh or online.

Under the surface
About page in structured data.
This block is on the page because about pages upgrade titles. The sample Service names today’s status in the body’s words.

The order we draft on your site
Name, allowed professional title, register or membership status with a public link, audience you work with, orientation named at training level, and the sentence that invites a first conversation. Training still in progress is labelled as such—not as a qualification already held.
Credential wording detail is in counselling qualifications for private practice and presenting therapy credentials clearly. The about page carries the person; service pages carry fees and session length.
| On the about page | Not on the about page |
|---|---|
| Status you hold today | A title you plan to earn |
| Linked BACP or UKCP register line | A homemade membership badge |
| Who you work with | A client vignette or trauma narrative |
| Plain voice, no ranking claims | Leading, best or number one |
| PSA on the register, not as your prize | Accredited pinned without register proof |
BACP, UKCP and registers that differ
The BACP Register and UKCP register use different status words. We link the one that lists you. If you are on neither, the page does not imply a listing.
Editing follows the BACP Ethical Framework rule on accurate communication—we do not warm the page by upgrading member to accredited.
What the about page is not
Not a treatment guide, not supervision notes, not a list of every CPD course. Approach can be named without instructing the reader in technique.
Full session pricing belongs on the counselling service page or fees page—not hidden here to seem more personal.
Status in HTML and structured data
Answer engines quote sentences, not logos. The same status line appears in structured data so Google, ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity repeat member, registrant or registered practitioner only when the visible copy says so.

- Will you list every course I have taken?
- We name completed qualifications and today’s status—not a long CPD catalogue.
- Can the about page say accredited?
- Only when that is your membership status or when it describes the register—not as decoration.
- Do you write the about page from a template generator?
- No. We draft from your approved facts in the brief.
