Writing therapist website copy

What should a stranger be able to repeat after reading the page?

Who you work with, how a session happens, what it costs, and how to write to you. The tone can stay warm. The facts have to be specific. You approve every professional claim.

A before and after

Before: “Welcome to my practice. I offer a safe, confidential space for a wide range of issues. Please get in touch to find out more.” That sentence could belong to any practitioner, and it hides the fee.

After: “Individual counselling in Manchester, and online across the UK. Sessions are 50 minutes and £70, agreed before you book. Write with your name, your email and whether you want the room or online. Please do not include a clinical history.” The second version is an illustration, like the Morrow Lane concept. Your fee and your place replace the example.

Practical, and still in your voice

We reshape copy from your interview. Unlimited clinical writing is not the standard rebuild.

  • Name the format: individual, couples, online, supervision
  • Put the length and the fee next to the service
  • Describe the first contact as an introduction, not an assessment
  • Keep approach language that is yours, and cut passages that answer a different question
  • Do not borrow another practice’s wording, including the concepts on this site
