A new domain
Moving a therapist website to a new domain
A practice rename is a site move we plan, not a ranking shortcut. The new domain stays in your registrar account, the old hostname keeps serving permanent redirects, and every surviving path is paired before DNS switches. Therapist Website Studio follows Google’s site-move guidance and checks Search Console after cutover. We do not promise faster rankings or unchanged positions.
Example bespoke sites
Meridian Room is a designed example in Leeds. Meridian Room is a fictional practice name, not a domain we transferred for a client.

Individual psychotherapy, usually weekly. £85 for 50 minutes. Thursdays in Leeds, and online on the other days.

To see whether this work fits
These meetings are not an assessment, and you are not asked to send a history. A loss, a relationship, or work are ordinary places to begin.
Thursdays in the Leeds room. Other days online across the UK. Your name, your email, and which you prefer.

Under the surface
Domain move as structured facts.
This block is on the page because domain moves get marketed as hacks. The sample Service lists both names, the map and redirects.

The new domain stays in your name
We register or transfer into an account you control. Cancelling studio management later does not move the domain to us. GOV.UK’s sole-trader naming note is about the business name you may use—not a reason to buy a keyword domain for a town you do not work in.
Choosing spelling and sayability is how to choose a therapy practice domain name. Registrar mechanics without inventing click-paths: therapy website domain transfer checklist.
Ownership principles: therapist website ownership.
| We plan | We do not promise |
|---|---|
| Old domain kept for 301s after cutover | Dropping the old name on day one |
| New domain in your registrar account | A domain held in the studio’s name |
| Practice name you are allowed to use | A stuffed town keyword for rank |
| URL map before nameserver change | A rename sold as guaranteed positions |
URL map across both hostnames
Every public path that should survive is listed as old URL → new URL on the new domain. Retired paths are documented too so nothing 404s by accident. The checklist format is on therapy website SEO migration checklist.

Google site move and monitoring
Google’s site-move guidance applies when URLs change, including a new hostname. After you have verified the property, we use Search Console change-of-address and coverage reports. Submitting a sitemap is not the same as ranking.
Canonicals on the new site should point at the new hostname per Google’s canonical guidance. Sitemaps list only URLs you want fetched on the new domain.
Structured data uses the practice name and URLs on the new domain only. We do not promise the new name will be cited faster in AI answers.
Email and directories
Mail on the old domain is planned before the switch so enquiries do not vanish—we do not own your mailbox.
Directories that still show the old URL need updating when you can edit them; we do not log into third-party accounts for you.
Studio migration and redesign
A domain move with a rebuild is scoped on website migration for therapists and website redesign for therapists—redirects and crawlable pages at list price, not a rank-protection fee.
Standard Managed is £149 setup and £49 a month for 12 months, then Website Care at £39. Growth Managed is £249 and £69 a month, then £49, when each real service needs its own page. Prices include VAT. Post-move search mechanics overlap what happens to SEO when you redesign.

- Should I buy a keyword-rich domain?
- We register the practice name you will say aloud, not a town you do not serve.
- How long should old-domain redirects stay?
- Long enough that old links and directory entries still resolve. We do not switch them off casually.
- Who owns the new domain?
- You do, in your registrar account. We do not hold it in the studio’s name.
