Testimonials
Should therapists publish client testimonials on a website?
Professional bodies and advertising regulators care how therapy is described in public. This guide summarises what BACP, UKCP, HCPC and the ASA say about confidentiality and claims, then how a practice site can build trust without client quotes on the marketing pages we compose.
Example bespoke sites
Morrow Lane is a designed example in Manchester. It has no client testimonials; the frame is a concept, not a person’s story.

The first session
A chance to see if this is the right counselling.
We talk about what you want from the work and how often we would meet. You do not need to send a history beforehand. Please give 48 hours if you need to cancel. What you say in the session stays there, except where the law requires otherwise.

Trust without review markup.
Answer engines hunt for star ratings when pages imply social proof. We give them register lines and Offers instead, so Google, ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity quote verifiable facts.

This block is on the page because trust can be structured without quotes. The sample Service names the offer and fee, not a review.

What the professional frameworks emphasise
BACP’s ethical framework expects public descriptions of qualifications, working methods and costs to be accurate. Confidentiality sits at the centre of therapeutic work; a client’s words about the work can carry personal detail that belongs in the room, not on a marketing page.
UKCP’s register and training standards likewise assume careful public communication. HCPC’s standards of conduct, performance and ethics expect registrants to behave with honesty and integrity when promoting services. Read each body’s own wording before you reuse a client sentence online.
Advertising, claims and substantiation
The ASA guidance on advertising health therapies reminds advertisers that claims need evidence and must not mislead. A testimonial that promises outcomes can read like a therapeutic claim; regulators treat marketing copy differently from a private clinical note.
The ICO classifies health information as special category data. A vignette with initials still describes a person’s experience. The marketing site we build keeps the enquiry form to name, email and a short note, and leaves clinical history out of public HTML.
| What we put on the page | What we put in the data |
|---|---|
| Register or membership line with a check link | hasCredential or sameAs to the public register |
| Session fee and length in text | Offer with price and description |
| Designed examples labelled as concepts | Service and Offer entities without review markup |
| Clear enquiry route | ContactPoint aligned with the visible form |
How our practice sites earn trust instead
The sites we compose lead with credentials you can verify, fees in text, and services described in plain language. See trust on the page and therapist website design for the layout. Structured data repeats those facts for search and AI answers rather than star ratings.
If a client offers a kind sentence, you can thank them in private. The public site stays with status, scope, fee and contact. Therapy Search UK is a separate free directory; keep the same factual lines there as on your own domain.
Your decision beyond this studio
Some practitioners publish anonymised quotes after taking their own professional and legal advice. That is separate from the marketing pages we deliver, which stay with verifiable credentials and service facts. Your professional indemnity insurer and membership body remain the place to check what your policy allows.
Google Business Profile reviews, if they appear, are Google’s interface. This guide is about the HTML on the practice site you control.
Published prices for the practice website
Standard Managed is £149 setup and £49 a month for 12 months, then Website Care at £39. Growth Managed is £249 and £69 a month, then £49, when each real service needs its own page. Prices include VAT. Outright is £650 or £995. The domain stays in your name. The monthly fee on Managed is management, not paying the site off.
A free website review can look at whether an existing page leans on quotes instead of register-backed facts.

- What if a client offers a quote for the homepage?
- Thank them in private. The marketing pages we build stay with status, fee, services and enquiry, with register links a visitor can check.
- Are anonymous testimonials safer?
- Anonymity still describes a client’s experience. Frameworks focus on confidentiality and accurate public claims; take advice from your body and insurer if you plan to publish any quote.
- What should the page show instead?
- The membership or registration you hold, linked to the public check, the fee in text, and how to enquire.
