Therapist Website Studio

From WordPress

Moving a therapy website from WordPress

WordPress remains a capable host for a practice blog or brochure site. When you rebuild on the studio stack, the work is a URL map, useful copy carried forward, permanent redirects, and Search Console checks—aligned with Google’s site-move guidance. This guide walks through those steps and links to the studio’s migration service.

SEO, AI AEO and language models

Redirects plus fresh HTML.

AI answers can cite old WordPress URLs until redirects and HTML catch up. We publish matching fees on new routes with structured data so Google, ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity align with the live site.

The website we deliver

What WordPress already gives you

WordPress.org publishes search engine optimisation notes for permalinks, readable URLs and sitemaps on a self-hosted or managed install. Themes and plugins can add forms, galleries and booking—each with its own updates and security patch cycle.

A move is worth planning when you want a slimmer page map, studio-drafted copy, structured data on every service route, or ongoing care on the site we host—not because WordPress cannot serve a therapist in public.

Inventory before you switch

List every public URL: services, about, fees, blog posts you still stand behind, and landing pages directories already link to. WordPress’s export tool can bundle pages and posts for reference while we rewrite the live copy in HTML.

Note which plugins only existed to show a slider, a pop-up or a form that asked for clinical detail. The new marketing form asks for a name, email and short message; booking stays as a link to the diary you already use when that is your process.

Google’s site-move guidance

Google’s site-move guide describes mapping URLs and using permanent redirects when addresses change. The same guide says rankings can fluctuate during a move—plan for recrawl time rather than assuming positions freeze on launch day.

After the new site is live, verify the property in Search Console, submit the sitemap, and inspect a few old URLs to confirm they redirect. Structured data on each service page repeats the fee and title shown on screen so search and AI answers catch up to the new HTML.

How the studio handles WordPress moves

Website migration for therapists is the commercial page for the full process: rebuild, redirect map, domain in your name, and Managed or Outright pricing. We keep redirects for real pages—services, location lines, articles you approve—not a blanket hop from every old post to the homepage.

Website Care applies to the site we built. Closing the old WordPress hosting account stays with you once redirects are tested. For a refresh on the same host without a platform change, see website redesign for therapists. Other platforms have their own guides, such as moving from Wix.

Published prices for the practice website

Standard Managed is £149 setup and £49 a month for 12 months, then Website Care at £39. Growth Managed is £249 and £69 a month, then £49, when each real service needs its own page. Prices include VAT. Outright is £650 or £995. The domain stays in your name. The monthly fee on Managed is management, not paying the site off.

A WordPress move is priced as a bespoke build with redirect work included—the same packages as a new site on pricing. Old hosting and plugin subscriptions end when you close that account.

Questions

Can useful blog posts move across?
Yes, when you still want them public. Obsolete or empty posts can retire with your approval instead of being redirected.
Will Google rankings stay exactly the same?
Google’s site-move documentation says rankings can fluctuate. A deliberate URL map and permanent redirects are still the right technical base.
Who keeps the domain?
You. The registrar and DNS stay in your name; we point the domain at the new site when you are ready.
