How to write a useful therapist directory profile

What should the first lines tell someone who is choosing?

Who you work with, whether sessions are in person or online, and what a first contact is for. Credentials must match what your register shows. Do not invent outcomes, testimonials or a caseload. Then use the same facts on your own website so the profile and the site do not disagree.

A profile that can be checked

Open with the work and the place or online scope. Name the fee if the directory field allows it. Link to the page on your site that says the same thing in more detail. If you have no site yet, the profile is doing too much; plan the page before you add more specialisms. If the link lands on a homepage that hides the fee, that is a review, not a new directory.

  • Before: “I offer a safe space for your journey.”
  • After: “Individual counselling in Leeds and online across the UK. Sessions are 50 minutes. Write with your name and whether you want the room or online. Please do not include a clinical history.”
