How to get your first therapy clients

What should a new practice do in the first months, without promising a full caseload?

Tell colleagues you have space, publish one accurate directory profile, and make sure anyone who is sent your name can see the fee and write to you. A website helps that last step. It does not create a caseload by itself.

A proportionate order

The wider guide on getting counselling clients is for a practice that already has some presence. This page is only the opening sequence. A first site is the Practice Website at £650, built around the work rather than a theme, with the domain in your name. Prices include VAT. If you want that planned, use the consultation. If a site already exists and nobody writes, use the review.

  • Do not invite the public until your body and supervisor agree you may.
  • One profile, with the same name, services and fee you will put on a site.
  • A page you own, even a short one, so referrals are not stuck inside the directory.
  • Reply to the first enquiries yourself and note which route sent them. No clinical detail in a spreadsheet.
