UKCP on the site

How to display UKCP registration on a website

UKCP maintains a national register of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. This guide explains how to name that registration in plain text, link the public register, and keep the same facts in structured data for search and AI answers.

These meetings are not an assessment, and you are not asked to send a history. A loss, a relationship, or work are ordinary places to begin.

The website we deliver

Registration on the UKCP register

UKCP describes a national register of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. The register page is where a visitor can read how registration works and search for a practitioner.

If you are listed, the website can say so in the title UKCP uses for your entry—psychotherapist or psychotherapeutic counsellor—and link that line to the public register. Until then, the site uses the training or membership wording you approve, without UKCP registration language.

Titles beside the register link

Psychotherapist is not a shorthand for counsellor, and psychotherapeutic counsellor is its own UKCP category when that is what the register shows. We keep BACP lines off a UKCP-only page unless you belong to both bodies, in which case each body gets its own sentence and link.

A captured screenshot of the register goes stale after renewal. A live link lets the visitor check today's entry.

UKCP lines on the page, and in structured data.
What we put on the pageWhat we put in the data
Register phrase that matches your UKCP entryhasCredential or sameAs to the register URL
Services and fees on separate URLs when neededService and Offer entities per route
Link text that says what openssameAs points at the public register
Trainee wording only while you approve itNo registration claim in JSON-LD before listing

PSA accreditation of the register

The Professional Standards Authority accredits registers. That describes the UKCP register scheme, not a personal “PSA accredited therapist” line on your about page.

Directory profiles, including UKCP’s own listings, should agree with the site. Therapy Search UK is a separate free directory and should repeat the same title and register facts, not a stronger one.

What we build for UKCP registrants

The commercial offer on psychotherapist website design includes the about page, service routes, fees in HTML, and structured data beside the UKCP sentence you approve. Creating helpful content is the editorial check: the page should answer why someone opened it, not pad credentials.

Answer engines merge counsellor and psychotherapist when pages mix the words. We give psychotherapy its own wording when UKCP registration is the fact you publish.

Published prices for the practice website

Standard Managed is £149 setup and £49 a month for 12 months, then Website Care at £39. Growth Managed is £249 and £69 a month, then £49, when each real service needs its own page. Prices include VAT. Outright is £650 or £995. The domain stays in your name. The monthly fee on Managed is management, not paying the site off. There is no separate UKCP display fee.

For BACP membership wording, see how to display BACP membership on a website. A free website review can compare an existing about page with the register entry before a rebuild.

Questions

Is UKCP registration the same line as BACP membership?
No. Each body is named only when you belong to it, with that body’s own category wording.
Can the page say PSA accredited about me?
We describe PSA’s role in accrediting the register. Your about line stays about your UKCP registration, not a personal PSA award.
What if my UKCP application is in progress?
The site shows the stage you have approved, with registration wording added once the listing is live.
