WordPress for therapists in the UK
Which WordPress are you choosing, and who will look after it?
WordPress.com is a hosted service with its own SEO tools and, on paid plans, plugins. Self-hosted WordPress is software on a host you choose, with updates, backups and security in somebody’s diary. Both can describe a practice clearly. Neither removes the need to decide the pages.
WordPress.com is not the same product as self-hosted WordPress
Checked on 3 October 2026, WordPress.com’s pricing page said plugin installation is part of paid plans. The dollar or pound amount depends on the billing term, so read that page rather than a figure copied here. A plugin does not write your fees or your registration status.
Self-hosted WordPress is flexible for service pages, redirects and editorial layouts. It is a poor fit when nobody is responsible for updates. We do not sell WordPress care as a side effect of a website build.
| WordPress.com | Self-hosted WordPress | |
|---|---|---|
| Who hosts it | WordPress.com | A host you choose and pay |
| Search | Built-in SEO tools and a sitemap | Whatever the theme and plugins provide |
| Plugins | On paid plans, as WordPress.com states | You install them, and you update them |
| Care | Included in the plan, within that plan’s limits | Updates, backups and spam are your arrangement |
The pages still have to be decided
A useful therapy site on either WordPress names the formats you offer, the fee, the place or online scope, and a short contact route. That structure is the same job as on any other platform. If you want that planned and designed as one piece, the therapist design page describes the solo rebuild. There is no separate WordPress migration product on this site.
