Counselling practice
Starting private practice as a counsellor—the launch site that matches your BACP status, reach and fee
Supervision, insurance and referrals sit with your membership body and your professional judgement. This guide is narrower: what Therapist Website Studio builds when you are ready to practise in public—a site that states counsellor membership, registration or accreditation exactly as BACP defines those words, names the room or online reach honestly, and puts the session fee in text strangers can trust.
Example bespoke sites
Morrow Lane is a designed example of a Manchester counselling practice layout. It is not a measured launch or a BACP case study.

Space to work through what matters
Individual counselling in Manchester, and online across the UK. Anxiety, grief, and what is hard to put into words.

Anxiety
£70
50 minutes
For worry that is taking up the week. We stay with it, rather than rushing you towards a fix.

Grief
£70
50 minutes
For a death, or another loss. There is no date by which you should feel better.

Online sessions
£70
50 minutes
The same counsellor, from your own home, anywhere in the UK.
The first session
A chance to see if this is the right counselling.
We talk about what you want from the work and how often we would meet. You do not need to send a history beforehand. Please give 48 hours if you need to cancel. What you say in the session stays there, except where the law requires otherwise.

SEO, AI AEO and language models
Counsellor lines machines can quote.
Launch pages often blur counsellor into therapist. We publish BACP-accurate status and reach so Google, ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity repeat facts a stranger can verify.

This block is on the page because launch geography gets invented. The sample Service names counselling practice launch with GBP Offer description.

Counsellor status on the page—not a broader therapist label
BACP distinguishes membership, registration and accreditation. We publish the line you hold and link the BACP Register when you have an entry—not “therapist” as a catch-all when you mean counsellor.
Wider practice setup sits in BACP’s private practice toolkit. We build the site those steps point at; we do not replace supervision or insurer advice.
| On the site we build | Left off |
|---|---|
| Member, registrant or accredited member—spelled distinctly | Therapist used to sound more established |
| Fee and session length in HTML | Price on request with no figure |
| Room you use or a clearly online practice | A town name where you do not work |
| Short enquiry route | A social feed as the only contact |
Local room, online practice, or both
A consulting room clients visit may qualify for Google Business Profile when Google’s eligibility rules are met. Online-only practices do not get a invented shopfront or map pin.
Local SEO applies to the address you actually use—see local SEO for therapists. We do not sell thin town pages with swapped place names.
What the studio composes at launch
The commercial build is on counsellor website design and website design for newly qualified counsellors when that is your stage. Pages carry fees and services in HTML with structured data beside the sentences you approve.
BACP’s Ethical Framework expects accurate public description before work starts—recheck after 3 November 2026 when the 2026 framework becomes mandatory.
What we do not promise
We do not guarantee first clients, directory rankings or AI mentions. The site makes the practice legible; demand is outside this marketing build.
You approve public words. We do not write treatment, consent forms or clinical records.
Published launch prices
Standard Managed is £149 setup and £49 a month for 12 months, then Website Care at £39. Growth Managed is £249 and £69 a month, then £49, when each real service needs its own page. Prices include VAT. Outright is £650 or £995. The domain stays in your name. Launch builds use Standard Managed at the published setup and monthly fee; the monthly line after year one is site care, not a shortcut to a full caseload.

See what is includedQuestions
- Do I need a Google Business Profile at launch?
- Only when Google’s in-person or service-area rules fit your practice. Online-only counsellors are not given a fake room on the map.
- Can the site list several nearby towns?
- Only places where you actually work. Duplicate town pages are not part of the studio offer.
- Is launch a different price tier?
- No. Standard Managed, Growth Managed or outright use the figures on the pricing page—Growth when more than one real service needs its own URL.
