Template or bespoke
Therapist website template or bespoke design?
Wix, Squarespace, WordPress and Webflow all ship capable templates for small practices. Bespoke here means pages written for your services, fees and register lines, then published in HTML the studio manages. This guide compares effort and information architecture, then how structured data supports search and AI answers on either starting point.
Example bespoke sites
Meridian Room is a designed bespoke example in Leeds. It is not a theme you can buy and not a client portfolio entry.

Time enough to say what the trouble actually is
Individual psychotherapy, usually weekly. £85 for 50 minutes. Thursdays in Leeds, and online on the other days.

To see whether this work fits
These meetings are not an assessment, and you are not asked to send a history. A loss, a relationship, or work are ordinary places to begin.
Thursdays in the Leeds room. Other days online across the UK. Your name, your email, and which you prefer.

Facts beat theme origin.
Crawlers read HTML, not whether the layout came from a marketplace. We publish the same service facts in text and structured data so Google, ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity quote your fee whether you started in Squarespace or a studio build.

This block is on the page because design style is not a schema type. The sample Offer describes the fee written on the service page, independent of the theme.

What a template gives you
A template is a starting layout: typography, sections, and placeholder copy. Wix and Squarespace make editing visual; WordPress pairs themes with blocks or page builders; Webflow offers designer-grade layouts with an editor you can learn. Any of them can hold a professional practice site once sample text is replaced with your name, register line, fee in text, and a page per real service.
The template’s job ends when the architecture matches the work. A one-scroll demo that hides a second fee is where many practitioners outgrow the default sections and either add pages in the tool or commission a build.
What bespoke means in this studio
Here, bespoke is not a mood board prize. It is therapist website design where we draft the pages from your brief, run two design rounds, and publish clean HTML with the domain in your name. You approve the public words; we keep fees, credentials and service routes current under Managed or Outright.
The counsellor website examples on this site are labelled designed concepts—Linden Walk, Morrow Lane, Alder Quay, Meridian Room—not a shop of themes or proof of hiring.
| Question | Template you edit | Studio bespoke build |
|---|---|---|
| Who writes the first service copy? | You, from prompts | We draft from your brief |
| Fee visible without opening an image? | Your edit in the tool | Fee in HTML on each service URL |
| Register or membership line | Your sentence plus link | Same, with JSON-LD beside it |
| Ongoing fee or status change | You log in and edit | Managed includes agreed content updates |
Search, crawlers and AI answers
Google’s SEO starter guide describes pages that can be linked and understood. A template URL and a bespoke URL are alike to a crawler when the HTML states the offer plainly. Helpful content rewards specificity, not whether the CSS came from a marketplace theme.
Structured data repeats the service name and fee you show on screen. Bespoke design is not a ranking factor in Google’s documentation; accurate pages are. AI answers quote the same visible lines when they are in text, not trapped inside a hero image.
Choosing without a verdict on tools
Stay on a template when you have time to delete sample copy, add routes for each service, and keep the fee current. Commission the studio when you want the pages written, linked, and maintained at the published prices. Platform comparisons such as Wix or the studio site and Squarespace or the studio site go deeper on ownership and editing.
WordPress and Webflow sit in the same frame: capable products when the public pages stay accurate. The studio offer is the bespoke HTML layer and management, not a claim that templates fail by default.
Published prices for the practice website
Standard Managed is £149 setup and £49 a month for 12 months, then Website Care at £39. Growth Managed is £249 and £69 a month, then £49, when each real service needs its own page. Prices include VAT. Outright is £650 or £995. The domain stays in your name. The monthly fee on Managed is management, not paying the site off.
Template software has its own subscription to the vendor; that is separate from this studio’s build and care fees. A free website review can look at a live template URL before you decide.

- Is a template unprofessional for therapists?
- A template with your real fee, register line and services in text is a professional public site. The bar is accurate facts, not the origin of the layout.
- What does bespoke include here?
- Pages drafted from your services, two design rounds, HTML publication, and optional Managed updates at the published setup and monthly figures.
- Can I buy Meridian Room as a theme?
- No. It is a designed example labelled as a concept, like the other frames on the examples page.
